Job description
About Vote Mama
Vote Mama builds the political power of moms.
Vote Mama Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is the leading source of research and analysis on the political participation of moms. We are normalizing moms running for office and building a political system that is truly family-friendly.
Vote Mama Lobby, a 501(c)(4) organization, advocates to break the structural barriers moms face running for and serving in elected office, and mobilizes fed-up mamas to build their political power, elect moms, and pass truly family-friendly legislation.
Vote Mama PAC is the first PAC in the country dedicated to supporting Democratic moms. Through endorsements and financial support, we elect moms up and down the ballot and across the country.
About the Role
The Vice President of Development joins Vote Mama at an exciting moment in the organization’s history. Since its inception seven years ago, Vote Mama has grown revenue annually and built a strong base of early supporters. We now recognize the need to diversify and expand our funding base to sustain and fuel future growth.
Vote Mama seeks a seasoned, strategic, mission-driven political fundraiser to lead and expand on a strong foundation laid by the existing Development team, overseeing a comprehensive fundraising strategy for Vote Mama PAC, Vote Mama Foundation (501(c)(3)), and Vote Mama Lobby (501(c)(4)). As part of their role, the VP of Development will be responsible for creating and executing a multi-million-dollar political finance plan as well as fundraising plans for the Foundation and Lobby, leading revenue generation across all three entities. The role combines executive-level strategy with hands-on fundraising leadership: the VP will personally cultivate, solicit, and steward a significant portfolio of high-net-worth (HNW) and political donors while overseeing the systems, team, partnerships, and pipeline necessary for sustained organizational growth. The VP of Development reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with the CEO, staff, and Vote Mama’s Board of Directors to meet the organization's fundraising goals. The VP is also charged with managing the Senior Director of the Mamas Network and the Development Operations Director, who are responsible for day-to-day management of revenue streams, including the institutional portfolio, the Mama Fund, events, and other donor engagement programs. Additionally, the role collaborates with programmatic, communications, and events team members to ensure seamless integration of fundraising priorities across organizational goals and objectives.
This role is responsible for designing and executing high-impact political fundraising strategies, with a particular focus on acquiring, cultivating, and stewarding HNW individual and political donors and overseeing the continued expansion of revenue across multiple channels (individual, institutional, corporate, and mission-aligned donors). We’re seeking someone who thrives in high-visibility, high-stakes environments, brings deep knowledge of the political fundraising landscape, has extensive experience as a finance director on federal or statewide campaigns, has worked in a senior fundraising role with a PAC or organization, has led high-impact teams, and is excited to lead the charge in diversifying and growing Vote Mama’s donor base.
Working at Vote Mama
This is a fully remote role with flexible scheduling. Candidates must have reliable internet access and be available for travel to in-person events as needed (roughly 5-7 trips annually, dependent on your location). We strongly prefer candidates based in New York City, with other key funding bases in the Bay Area and the East Coast generally.
